Harrell PAC wants to collaborate with MAGA

Buried in a recent story about how Bruce Harrell may have brazenly broken the law regarding coordination between PACs and campaigns was a more horrifying tidbit: The PAC supporting him with $1.6M is dropping big hints it wants to collaborate with MAGA.

They argued that their terrible primary results were due to “stresses our voters are feeling that have been put on ‘Blue States’ by the current federal administration…. [N]on-centrist, unprepared, and inexperienced voices grew support for candidates…that do not align with the moderate and bi-partisan vision we all had.” 

The vision of this PAC (run by a former Republican, and funded partly by Republican megadonors) has been to collaborate with MAGA?

And they want to reiterate that, now?

Right now the Republican party leaders are celebrating Hitler, slavery and rape and their leaders at the highest level are dismissing such talk as no-big-deal, and all the other bad things we know about—selling government access, killing people around the world through cut-off aid, cutting healthcare for millions, having dissenters prosecuted and disappeared to torture sites, shooting blast balls at praying pastors, and zip-tying children whose only crime is living in a building where there are other targets. 

This is who Bruce’s backers want to collaborate with.

They are betting $1.6M that when Bruce Harrell said he’s “not going to Washington with [his] fist balled” and praised Trump for surrounding himself by brilliant innovators like Elon Musk, he meant it, and that his post-primary “I’ll fight Trump” charade is what we all know it is: a charade.

Yes, sometimes we have shared interests on a particular issue and we work together. I do this and we all have to be practical about individual issues.

But having the center of your vision focused on working hand in hand with a party committed to destroying American democracy is beyond the pale.

In every crisis of freedom and democracy and oppression there are collaborators. 

That is what these people want us to be.
