Invitation: Let's Take Back Seattle From Sara Nelson, Ann Davison
Please join me Thursday!
My dear readers,
I am excited to share an update on a project that is close to my heart. I'm co-hosting an event on Thursday June 26th at 6:00PM to help elect progressive champions on the ballot in Seattle this year.
Now more than ever, we need effective and proven leaders at the local level that can fight for our values, especially in the face of devastating cuts and attacks on basic freedoms by Trump's administration.
After Seattle’s conservative backlash races in 2021 and 2023, when Amazon and their proxies bought votes in races like my own (using a PAC to outspend labor PAC money in my race by 19 to 1), Seattle progressives found a new way to fight back. They formed an organization to better support candidates committed to getting things done for everyday people: the Progressive People Powered PAC (P3).
The first goal of this effort was to help elect Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck and it worked, leading to a landslide victory city-wide!
The group is reconvening to help elect progressive champions up and down the ballot in this year's Seattle elections. The focus is straightforward: secure a common-sense, effective, and progressive majority on the City Council.
The PAC defines progressives the following way: First and foremost, by our shared commitment to fund essential services like housing, homelessness, and public safety by taxing the wealthy and ultra-rich corporations.
P2 has already secured significant investment from labor unions representing nurses, grocery store workers, longshoremen, and more! Now, it’s time to ensure we back up their faith with support from Seattle's broader progressive community and engaged people like you and me!
To that end, I'd love to invite you to an event I'm co-hosting along with incredible local leaders like Nilu Jenks, Alex Hudson, Tyler Crone, Rian Watt, and Stephen Paolini, as well as State Representative Darya Farivar. We would love for you to learn more about the organization, its goals for this year, and contribute to the cause!
When: Thursday, June 26th, at 6:00PM
Where: In the Matthew’s Beach Neighborhood Area (Address provided upon RSVP).
What: Light bites and beverages followed by an engaging program about how we can make Seattle a better place for everyone!
