Five Katie Wilson Fundraisers
Fight back against big corporate spenders buying the Seattle election
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I started an independent expenditure campaign with some friends to support Katie Wilson.
The Harrell PAC is closing in on a million dollars and will likely raise much more. They are funded by Amazon bigwigs, Republican ideologues, and downtown real estate moguls. They saw the primary results in Seattle and do not want the will of the voters to prevail. So they are acting just like big finance in New York is with Cuomo - trying to buy the election by flooding our airways and mailboxes with misinformation.
But we are fighting back. So far, we are on track to raise $250k to support Katie, and much more if Seattle comes together to make sure corporate money doesn’t drown out the truth.
To that end, I want to personally invite you to a series of fundraisers around the city. Please bring your friends that care about the direction of the city, including those who may not have tuned in to the details of the contest.
Capitol Hill
Tech4Housing is hosting a fundraiser in Capitol Hill this Sunday (the 28th) at 4pm.
West Seattle - Alki
On Monday, October 6th at 6pm, the 34th District Democrats and their Chair Jordan Crawley will be hosting another event, along with two local progressive celebrities. Paul Loeb, the bestselling author of The Soul of a Citizen (as well as Nuclear Culture, Hope in Hard Times, Generation at the Crossroads, and The Impossible Will Take a Little While) will be speaking briefly. In addition, former political candidate Maren Costa, who organized Amazon workers in a global climate strike, and amplified the efforts of warehouse workers to fight for better working conditions (and was illegally fired for it), will also be cohosting.

On Tuesday, October 7th at 6pm, former Councilmember and former Sierra Club Chair Mike O’Brien will be cohosting an event with the 43rd District Democrats and the nearby 36th District Democrats, as well as former Councilmember Nick Licata. In addition, John “Spider” Burbank—the retired Executive Director of the Economic Opportunity Institute and author of two recent articles in The Nation about Katie Wilson will be cohosting as well. Me too!
