Quick ballot update - today isn't probably the big day

Several interesting pieces of news have come in related to the Seattle Mayoral race.

• Turnout has continued to climb. That is very good —lots of late voters! Only half the votes have been counted, and it’s the more conservative half.

• Reporters are hearing we are only going to see about 30k ballots counted today. It’s not 100% clear whether this is a mix of mail and dropbox, or exclusively dropbox. That could muddy the waters for predicting what happens after today.

• Even if it is exclusively dropbox votes, we won’t know which geography it is coming from. Queen Anne? Magnolia? Capitol Hill?

• That tells me that the vote share of today’s 30,000 ballots will be directionally interesting, but not dispositive.

In other words, we have at least another day before we may really have a sense of the late breaking vote. 🙄
